BJQ: Big Juicy Questions
In this discussion-based class we will be tackling fun, brain-twisting, thought-provoking questions in a safe environment. Our short list of potential topics includes:
The ethics of smartphones, Do the ends justify the means? Who owns a forest? Bringing back extinct animals? Is it society’s fault if you become a criminal? Are you really free? Pet, pests and farm animals, why do we value them differently? Would you choose to live forever? Is it wrong to enjoy killing people in video games? Should kids be allowed to drink beer if it’s non-alcoholic?
By dissecting these topics, students will learn how to express opinions in a way that encourages a furthering of the conversation. We will practice seeing things from other points of view (and being able to argue it as well), challenge assumptions, understand the difference between opinion and knowledge and learn how to respectfully disagree.

Spectacular Study Skills (4 weeks)
Whether you are new to study skills or coming back for a refresher, we will discuss how things like organization, consistency and sleep are the foundations to study skill success. Students will learn WHY these practices are part of long-term success and HOW to implement them into their lives. We will learn and practice the skills that are most useful for success both in an academic sense but also in life.
We cover 3 main topics: Organization, Note Taking and Making, and Study Skills for test taking. Within each of those topics, there are several key factors for success. Students will not only learn about each one of them but will have an opportunity to try out different tactics to figure out which ones work best for their brain.

Fibonnacci, tesselations, spirolaterals, mobious.......Mathematical concepts surround us in nature, art, and science. This class will explore these concepts, through tangible activities and art. This is not a computational math class, but rather, meant to take concepts, and make them three dimensional, and visual.
